noxious weed control, areas requiring restdded interseeding, or areas that have been.plaMed to frees and •
shrubs.
As stated above, monitoring through quantitative measurements will be canied out periodicelly on
revegetated areas at the Seneca II Mine. Periodic monitoring of a given area of reclamation (identified by
year of initial seeding) will be conducted in years 2, 4, and 7. Reference area sampling may be conducted
coincidentally with revegetation monitoring. For purposes of this discussion, quantitative sampling during
the last two consecutive years of the extended liability period is nM considered monitoring. The data and
results from the quantitative montoring program will be provided to the Division by the March 30 filing of the
Annual Reclamation Report. The vegetation evaluation procedures for testing for reclamation
adequacy for Phase III bond release are included as Appendix 13-13.
The following discussion details parameters to be sampled, sampling methodologies and sampling intensity
for the revegetation monitoring program.
Samolina Parameters. •
Cover. Cover data will include cover by specles (both absolute and relative values), total vegetative cover
and cover values for litter, rock and bare ground. Mosses and lichens will be included if present.
Production. Production data will be collected as total herbaceous. In cases where additional composition
information is desired, production will be collected by herbaceous growth forms. Shrub production will not be
collected. Production values will be in g/m2, Ibs/ac, and kg/ha.
Woody Plant Density. The density of shrubs and trees by specles per unit area will be estimated. Shrub
and tree establishment areas will be delineated and sampled separately from the general reclaimed units.
Values will be presented as #/plot, #/ac and #/ha.
Specles List. A list of all spedes observed during sampling will be developed. Common names will be
included, as wit: I'de form, origin, and longevity. The initial spedes list will be upgraded in subsequent
monkoring efforts.
Samplin0 Methodologies.

TR-37 1 &26 Revised 04/05
