Security Building: This portable building (8'x8') will be removed
prior to reclamation.
BB. Security Gate: The steel security gate will be removed during
reclamation.
CC. Concrete Retaining Wall (Mice Portal: This concrete wall will be
demolished to a level 1.5 feet below the final reclaimed surface. Broken
concrete will be used as portal backtill.
DD. Portal Area: The portal area comprises approximately 1.6 surface
acres at the toes of the slope at the confluence of the two surface
drainage basins. The volume of material required to backfill the portal
area to approximate original contour was preliminarily calculated to be
52,267 cubic yards.
BACKFILLING AND GRADING
Backfilling and grading will be undertaken to achieve the post-mining
topographic configuration.
RETOPSOILING
Topsoil will be replaced to a finished depth of 12 inches over all
disturbed areas. Topsoil replacement operations will be completed after
backfill and grading operations. To ensure good contact between
replaced topsoil and re-graded material, the surface of re-graded areas
will be left in a roughened condition. Topsoil will be replaced using
methods to minimize compaction after placement. In areas where
compaction occurs, ripping or tilling of the replaced topsoil will take
place.
REVEGETATION
Revegetation Measures
Revegetation measures have been developed to meet the goals of
providing native, self-sustaining vegetation communities of similar
nature and composition as those present in the pre-mining landscape
National King Coal, LLC King II Mine
Section 2.05.4
Page 4 May, 2006
