5. SEEDING: Grass seeding should be done between November 1 and May 1 .
Seeding should not be done when the ground is frozen. The seedbed
should be firm, moist and clean of weeds . Seeding should be into a
cover crop, see item 3 above . If a cover crop is not used, then seeded
area should be covered with a mulch, See item 6 below.
The following is a suggested seeding mix recommendation:
GRASSES % OF MIX SEED RATE
Blue Grama ( Lovington) 30 0 . 5
Sideoats gram (Vaughn) 30 1 . 5
Western Wheatgrass (Arriba) 30 2 . 4
Switch (Grenville ) 10 0 . 25
*Seeding rates are in Pure Live Seed (PLS) per acre. PLS is % of
purity x % Germination. A grass drill should be used with depth bands,
packer wheels, and agitator .
6. MULCHING: After seeding is completed and if a cover crop is not
used to seed into, then a mulch should be used. 4000 pounds per acre
of good clean straw or native grass hay, should be crimped into the
soil. If possible apply 10 tons/acre of dried manure on the area .
7 . WEED CONTROL: Weeds can be controlled by mowing or by chemicals . If
mowing is used, LEAVING A 3" TO 4" STUBBLE HEIGHT. If chemicals are
used, DO NOT SPRAY UNTIL THE GRASS SEEDLINGS ARE AT LEAST IN THREE TO
FOUR LEAF STAGE.
If you need additional information, give us a call at
970-774-7153 .
Respectfully, q
Merlyn Queen, R.0
Resource Conservationist
EXHIBIT E
RECLAMATION PLAN
17
