0
Extraction of gravel will begin in the 2.9 acres at the east end of the affected area
(STAKE #1 and STAKE #2) and proceed west. Areas of the stream bed will be mined
simultaneously with the bank areas as needed to direct any water flow. As there is no
overburden in the stream area, none will be removed. Areas where dirt has washed
over the stream bed but vegetation is extremely sparse, approximately 2 inches of
overburden will be removed and stockpiled.
After this 2.9 acres is completed, extraction will begin to the west in the creek bed,
continuing to maintain a channel to divert runoff water, if present in the creek bed,
from washing away product being mined. We anticipate mining approximately 3
acres per year from the creek bed.
The area in Section 14 is either pasture used for grazing or dry creek bed. Rainwater
has collected in areas to the north east of our mining boundary. At the extreme
northeast line of the creek channel is a watering hole that has been dug out for cattle
which could be considered wetland but we will not be mining close to that area. We
will not be using any water in conjunction with this operation. No ground water will be
encountered, as the water table is well below our depth of extraction and the only
water at the location will be periodic pooling of water in low spots after rainfall. All
products will be either used for rock and gravel needs or used to reclaim slopes. We
do not anticipate any refuse. We don't anticipate any exposure of acid or toxic
producing materials. If it did happen, the material would be contained and
professional advise would be obtained on how to remove and dispose of the material
so that the drainage system would be protected from pollution.
The processing which will take place on site will be screening of rock and no
chemicals will be used. The primary commodities we will extract is gravel and will be
sold for road surfacing, used in our production of concrete, or meeting the other uses
of aggregates for our customers.
EXHIBIT D MINING PLAN NARRATIVE
