CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL <br />1. Violations of these Conditions of Approval are grounds for "shutting down" any or all <br />operations permitted under this authorization. Orders to shut down may be given by the <br />District Ranger or field representative either verbally or in writing. <br />2. MCC shall notify the District Ranger at least 24 hours in advance of operations <br />commencing on National Forest Lands unless previously approved. <br />3. MCC shall shut down operations immediately in areas in which any antiquities or <br />items of historic or scientific interest are discovered. MCC shall bring the discovery to <br />the attention of the District Ranger immediately. <br />4. Road work will be performed only upon authorization of the District Ranger and <br />comply with the terms of MCCs Road Use Permit, along with these provisions: <br />a. On FR 711 to the intersection with 711.2B, and along FR 71 I.2B to the West Flatiron <br />access road, road maintenance activities will be performed as directed by the District <br />Ranger, and shall consist of maintenance needed to preserve, repair and protect the <br />roadbed, surface, and all structures and appurtenances. <br />b. Snow removal must be performed in compliance with MCC's existing road use <br />permit. MCC will be responsible for placing a sign at the closure gate on FR 711 <br />warning snowmobilers of mixed traffic (see also Condition 26). <br />c. Drainage maintenance on roads will be critical for the duration of use. All existing <br />rolling dips shall be maintained. A Forest Service engineer will inspect the road to <br />identify any additional drainage structures to be constructed prior to or during use. <br />d. Snow should be compacted to 4 inches then allowed to freeze before hauling loads in <br />excess of 1,000 pounds GVW. <br />e. AC road intersections with existing drainages which cannot be easily carried by use of <br />a temporary culvert, the approaches to any ford shall be armored by use of 3 inch minus <br />crushed rock, minimum 8 inch depth, 14 feet wide for a distance of 20 feet on each side <br />of the drainage to minimize siltation, bank rutting and erosion. When access is no longer <br />needed, any temporary culverts and associated fill shall be removed. Silt fences shall be <br />utilized to prevent siltation into existing drainages, ponds or noted riparian areas. <br />f. No soil generated from excavation, slide removal or other operations shall be <br />deposited within 100 lineal feet of any drainage with flowing water. <br />g. Any trees needing to be removed will be designated by the Forest Service prior to <br />removal. MCC will be charged the value of the trees removed. No trees will he pushed <br />over, but must be cut down. Any slash generated from opening of the roadway shall be <br />lopped and scattered to a maximum depth of 2 feet. <br />
