SHELTON, Dlroetor /~~
F /..rlWr~
DATE: June 20, 1986
T0: Mr~~//.VV11 Edward G. Wol f
l.~J~~~~
FROM: Carl B. Mount, Reclamation Specialist
RE: File No. M-86-076
Adequacy Items
The following items must be addressed by the applicant in order to satisfy the
applicable requirements of C.R.S. 34-32-101 et seq• and the Mineral Rules and
Regulations of the Mined Land Reclamation Board:
A. Application Form
D ~ 1. Please provide the Division with a telephone number for Northern
Minerals, Inc.
B. Exhibit B - Mining Plan
1. Conceptually, the mining plan seems to be a good one which would be
acceptable to the Division. However, the plans for mining are so
vague that it is hard at this time to evaluate. The operator needs
to commit to a specific mining plan which addresses the
requirements of the 110 application form description, the Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Act and the Minerals Rules and Regulations.
The plan should address at a minimum the following:
a. Specifically, how will the mining progress and what will be
®~ done to minimize disturbance to surrounding lands? As an
example, the use of a backhoe (as mentioned in the reclamation
plan) for below road dump removal is considered a good idea
since downslope vegetation would be minimally impacted.
,S b. How will road drainage be controlled to minimize erosion of
® surrounding lands and sedimentation of off site drainages?
~~c. The entire access roadway, if improved for the mining
operation, must be included in the permit area along with the
loadout area.
~. The loadout area needs to be specifically identified and noted
0 on the permit area map and detailed plans for upland drainage
control as well as drainage control of water directly flowing
from the site needs to be addressed.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
