6.4.5 Exhibit E -Reclamation Plan
Topsoil Replacement
Topsoil will be segregated during stripping. The amount of topsoil salvaged from
the existing ground surface of the mining excavation will be the volume needed
to place topsoil over all affected areas (not ponds) to a minimum depth of 0.5 ft.
The salvaged topsoil will be placed in designated areas. Topsoil replacement will
occur as indicated in Exhibit F- Reclamation Plan Map. Topsoil quantities for
both Phase I and Phase II pit areas are provided in Table 6.4.53.
Table 6.4.5-3 Topsoil Replacement Volume Summary
PHASE AREA TOPSOIL
REPLACEMENT
(acres) VOLUME (yd3)
Phase I 31.3 25,270
Phase II 16.7 13,440
Seeding and Fertilizing
Currently, agricultural crops including corn and wheat are the dominant
vegetation.
The proposed seeding areas are shown in Exhibit F -Reclamation Plan Map.
The recommended seeding method is by drill and seeding rates assume this
method.
