.. ~ • <br />DECISION AND RATIONALE: It is my decision to implement the described <br />actions. This action will provide a much needed commodity to meet the growing <br />needs of the people, of the Crestone area, in Saguache County. Mining operations <br />and reclamation plans outlined in the submitted plans will minimize adverse <br />impacts to other resources in the area. <br />MITIGATION MEASURES: Operator agrees to: <br />1. Maintain structures on site and will adhere to mining and reclamation plan so <br />as not to create any unnecessary or undue degradation to other existing resources. <br />2. All debris will be removed from the site after operations cease in the fall of each <br />year. <br />3. The permittee or his contractors shall immediately cease operations upon <br />discovery of fossils or artifacts of scientific value and notify the authorized officer. <br />Should this occur the BLM will evaluate the situation within 48 hours. <br />4. The recommended seed mixture will be: <br />4 lbs./acre Western wheatgrass <br />2 lbs./acre Sand dropseed <br />2 lbs./acre Indian ricegrass <br />4 lbs./acre Ephraim crested wheatgrass <br />1 lblacre Blue grams <br />1 lb/acre yellow sweetclover <br />5. Grazing will be deferred for a minimum of two years after seeding, or when <br />vegetative cover is sufficient.
