• Permit Revision. A copy of this Revised Mine Permit boundary are
included with this package as Exhibit 4.
Considering the high sulfur history of the Red Arrow Seam at
Southfield (see Table 1) production from the 2 North submain has been
a pleasant windfall in extending the remaining low sulfur reserves of
the Jack O'Lantern Seam. Continued coal prai~iction fran the area
outlined in this Technical Revision will allow the Southfield Mine to
maintain a high Red Arrow to Jack O'Lantern blending ratio, and
continued supply of ca~q~liance coal to their customers.
The above referenced mine development, referred to herein as the 2
North submain has defined reserves and is conducting panel development
to the limits of sulfur and permit constraints. Prior to the approval
of a revised penait bo~adary, additional reserves are required to
maintain coal blending productivity. All mining will be done by
r+ooc~and-pillar methods utilising continuous mining machines.
TABLE 1: RID ARROW QUALITY (WASHID )
ARITHMETIC AVERAiGFS
Mine Area No. of Sales" lbs Soy/icrtiBTU
• Mains 13 1.72
1 North 8 1.63
1 South 17 1.77
2 North 14 1.52
" Includes charnel samples and cores (having +90~ recovery)
within the planned mining area.
PROPOSID BOUNCI4RY CHANGE IiDCATION
The proposed boundary change area of 46.8 acres situates in the SE 1/4
of Section 24, in T. 20 S., R. 70 W, of the 6th P.M.
