SOILS INFORMATION
EXHIBIT I
The Mesa County Soil Survey performed by the NRCS covers the permit area. The soils map and
associated soils type descriptions are enclosed in Appendix B.
The primary soils of the site are:
1) "Be" Green River Silty Clay loam
2) " Tr" Turley very deep well-drained loam
3) "Rc" Fmitland Sandy Clay loam
4) "Gm" Green River Clay loam
5) "Gk" Bebeevar loam
Due to the proximity of the floodplain and flat nature of the terrain, soils are fairly developed and
could be salvaged to a depth of at least lfoot if needed. However, since the majority of the site will
be restored to lakes, there is no need to salvage more soil than that required to place an 8 inch depth
on the edges of the lakes and the flat areas. The flat areas will be designated as commer-
cial/industrial use. The salvage amount is approximately 86,000 cubic yards.
It is planned that the top 8" of soil be salvaged for storage in the three stockpiles shown on Map C-2.
All topsoil piles will be seeded immediately after they are created with the same dry land mix shown
in the reclamation plan.
15 Road Pit 10/02 42
