However, <br /> the impacts will be within allowable levels , and are <br /> expected to be significant only very close to the oper- <br /> ations and for limited time periods of adverse meteorolog- <br /> ical conditions. <br /> It is useful for perspective to compare the expected mining <br /> impacts to other familiar sources of airborne dust. Agri- <br /> cultural tilling assuming 4 tillings per year of 168 acres <br /> of typical eastern Colorado farmland during a growing <br /> season generates approximately 10 tons of suspended dust. <br /> Twenty automobiles per day traveling at 40 mph along 3 <br /> miles of rural dirt road will produce approximately 44 tons <br /> per year of dust2.
