NININfi PLAN
INTERFACING WITH OVERFEAD LINES AND GAS LINES: Near the north end of the
• gravel deposit is an easement that contains a gas line (owned by Colorado
Interstate Gas) and a small overhead line that extends through the same
ea__..~..t. Neither of these features will be moved to mine the gravel
contained in that corridor. Gravel mining of the small amount of gravel
located north of the corridor will be accomplished in the same way as mining
gravel south of the corridor. The gravel from this north end will be hauled
by truck across the corridor an crossings located by agreement with the
parties controlling the gas line and the overhead line.
Colorado Interstate bas indicated that their preference is for the
operations to stay 50 feet on either side of the actual gas line location.
Prior to mining in this area, which will be many years in the future, Colorado
Interstate Gas will locate exactly where the line runs and the actual areas of
mining will be controlled by that line. The same approach will be used on the
overhead line. It should be noted that although the easement is a fairly
straight line across the area where the gravel exists, it is not necessarily
true that the gas line is centered in the easement. Thus the need to
precisely locate the gas line on the ground before mining near the gas line.
. Decisions on exactly where crossings will occur will depend m the
location of overhead line poles and the recomnEndatims of Colorado Interstate
Gas regarding crossings. In our discussions it was indicated that additional
material might need to be laid on top of the gas line prior to establishing a
crossing, but they indicate gas lines are usually deep enough that crossing
even with loaded gravel trucks is not a problem.
When the mining proceeds northward to a point 750 feet from the gas line
corridor, locating the crossings and actual limit of mining to the south and
' the north of the gas line will be established. The same procedure will be
used for the overhead line.
MINING/RECLAMATION RELATIQ~ISHIPS: Because there are no phases in this
mining plan, it is necessary to discuss how far behind the mining process the
reclamation will occur. To conduct the mining and its associated processing
and stockpiling a certain minimum amount of land is needed between the working
gravel face and the reclamation. This amount of land is not easy to identify
because there are so many variables that control its dimensions.
r
LJ
Page 9
