Diversion Ditch Reclamation
During 1990, Trapper removed approximately 4.3 acres of diversion ditches in
previously reclaimed Ashmore, Derringer and Colt pits. Ditches were removed
from our erosion control system since vegetation success and the remaining diver-
sion system is adequately handling runoff events. After ditches are closed, they
are seeded to the appropriate range site mix based on elevation. The areas
reclaimed are documented on our annual fall aerial photos.
Livestock Tanks
Trapper built eight livestock tanks in 1990. See Section 6 and Maps 6.1. Stock
tanks were seeded using the approved dam and/or spillway seed mixes on
approximately 4.8 acres.
Developmental Drill Sites
During 1990, Trapper broadcast seeded approximately 53 acres of developmental
drill sites using the approved seed mix. The speci5cs and locations are presented
in F. Beckett's 1990 Developmental Drilling summary submitted for your approval
on December 18, 1990.
•
Topsoil Piles
See Section 5 and maps 5.1. Topsoil stockpiles were smoothed and seeded to the
approved 1990 perennial topsoil pile mix. Approximately 20.16 acres were
treated.
Sediment Dams
Trapper inter-seeded one dam in the No-Name Gulch drainage as previous seed-
ing response was fair-poor. The area was broadcast seeded with the approved
dam seed mix.
Historical State Agricultural Holdings
As mining operations progress across our coal leases, Trapper affects former state
agricultural leases. Since 1976, Trapper has permitted the agricultural lessee to
continue farming practices but with the stipulation that Trapper withdraw acres
from crop production when mining advance dictates. Areas outside mining pre-
. strip operations are either left in historical crop rest-rotation (small grain) or con-
verted to perennial haycrop if these areas have the potential to contribute signifi-
cant amounts of sediment into existing sediment control ponds. As previous
