- ~'iI~dING PLAN
EXHIBIT 1
~
5
The objective of mining in the riprap quarry is to provide
' riprap material for construction of the Windy Gap diversion
dam. The material will be used during the construction
period to stabilize banks adjacent to the river and in
construction of coffer dams, temporary diversions, and other
temporary facilities. Riprap material will also be used
during final construction of the Windy Gap diversion dam to
cover surfaces exposed to flowing and impounded water.
'
MINING METHODS
' The area to be mined consists of fractured basalt. Removal
of the material will require the use of explosives to loosen
' the material. The material may be moved on site utilizing
bulldozers, front loaders or power shovels. Riprap will then
be loaded onto trucks for hauling to the diversion dam area.
' It is anticipated that mining operations will begin at the
southerly limits of the previous quarrying operations and
proceed in a southerly direction. In accordance with the
' mining plan shown in Figure C-2, the maximum area to be
disturbed with existing operations would be approximately 7
acres. Waste materials from the mining operations would be
' stored within the disturbed area. Materials mined would be
removed via the county road on the northern boundary of the
riprap quarry area.
' WATER IMPOUNDMENT AND DIVERSION
No impoundment or diversion of water is anticipated as a
result of mining operations in the riprap quarry area. The
working areas will be drained to the north and away from the
tributary to Willow Creek located on the westerly side of the
riprap quarry area. There should be no direct discharge to
the Willow Creek tributary as a result of this plan.
' TIMETABLE
' Table D-1 shows the estimated timetable for developing and
utilizing the riprap quarry area. It is anticipated that
topsoil removal would begin in July or August of 1981, and
' mining operations in August or September of 1981. Mining
operations will continue on an as-needed basis thorugh August
of 1984. In September of 1984 the reclamation plan described
in Exhibits E and F would be implemented. It is possible that
D-1
