• • •
Phasino and Disturbance
•
Of the total 42.75 acres of property only 35 acres will actual-
ly be mined because of planned for setbacks. The remaining 35
acres will be mined in four phases starting in the northeast
~ corner of the property, then proceeding in a semi-circle to the
southwest corner of the property. Approximately 10 acres maxi-
mum will be in a state of disturbance at any one time, with
major disturbance encompasing 2.5 acres, moderate 5 acres, and
~ minor 2.5 acres. '
Prior to beginning mining the property will be enclosed with a
6 foot chain link fence with one gate. Next the office trailer,
scale house, crusher, etc. will be set up. All these facilities
• will be placed on the north edge of Phase IV, approximately
550-600 feet south of the intersection of 132nd and Nome.
The areas of Phases I and II have the greatest amount of over-
burden (2-7 feet) and least aggregate (35 feet). Phase I will
~ begin in the northeast corner of the property. Topsoil and
sandy clay overburden will be stored within 100 feet of 132nd;
rejected materials will be utilized to backfill lake areas 100
0
feet in from 132nd Avenue. In addition, an average of 6 feet of
~ reject material and soils will be used to raise the elevation of
property along US 85 and the south property line. This area will
then be revegetated with screen planting. Once Phase I is approxi-
mately two-thirds mined, stripping of topsoil will begin on Phase Ii.
~ Phase II topsoil will be stored within 100 feet of 132nd and Nome
Street, and as Phase I mining is completed, Phase ii mining of
aggregate will be undertaken. Backfilling will continue with re-
jected material along Nome Street and 132nd Avenue beginning 100
~ feet back from each road. As the desired distance, sloping and
elevation is attained, topsoil and clayey soils will be placed over
the rejected material, taking care to insure topsoil is placed
on the surface, then this area will be revegetated. Any excess
~ soils will be placed along Nome .in piles which will be temporari-
ly revegetated. Thus areas along 132nd will be the first portions
of the property reclaimed to final contours, sloping and revegeta-
tion.
•
Phase III contains an average of 3-5 feet of overburden and 47
feet of aggregate. Mining will continue into Phase III as Phase
II is completed. Along US 85 rejected materials will begin to
~ be placed approximately 25 feet back from the eastern fence line,
then contouring and revegetation will be undertaken as Phase III
continues. After areas along US 85 are reclaimed, areas along
the south property line will be reclaimed. Thus the property
•
