•
Description of Process and Earth Movino Activities
•
This mine shall utilize the wet pit method of mining. In this
process topsoil, sandy clay, and aggregates are removed by front
• end and scraper loaders until the water table is encountered.
The aggregate is processed and topsoil and sandy clay materials
are stockpiled in separate piles for later use as backfill re-
quired in reclamation. The sandy clay stockpiles (and reject
• material) will be returned as soon as possible to proposed back-
fill areas. For the most part these soils will therefore be
bxposed for only several months, but whenever any soils are to
be stockpiled without disturbance for over one year a protec-
• tive cover of wheatgrass will be seeded during the first plant-
ing season after stockpiling to retard erosion and dust problems.
Additional aggregate is then removed with a dragline and piled
beside the pit to drain. Care will be taken to insure drained
• water will return to the pit area and not onto adjacent property.
After draining the material is picked up and placed onto con-
veyors by front-end loaders and processed through a crusher and
screens which seperate the aggregate by specification, with con-
~ veyors depositing the material into seperate piles accofding to
specification. The material is then loaded into trucks with
$ front-end loader, weighed, and transported off the property.
I•
General Operating Standards
This is a year round operation, with mining equipment and struc-
tures including, but not limited to; a dragline, generation
power plants, front-end loaders, scraper loaders, scale house
• and scale, conveyors, dump trucks, office trailer, san-o-lets,
water trucks, aggregate crusher and screens, and a dozer. In
addition, up to 10 personal employee vehicles might be parked
on the property at any one time.
• The processing area for the trailer, scale house, and other sta-
tionary equipment will be located near the entrance which will
be located approximately 550-600 feet south of the intersection
of 132nd and Nome. This will be the only entrance during min-
• ing. Other operational features are:
1. Personnel and Hours of Operation - A maximum of 20 people,
including truck drivers, might be present on the project at
~ any one time. Maximum working hours will be from 6:00 a.m.
to 10:00 p.m. Monday thru Saturday. Normally the hours will
be 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Saturday, not includ-
ing equipment maintenance.
• .
•
