C,
•
. • Water requirements and use interval for intended use.
• Water quality suitable for intended use.
• Water rights requirements.
• Adequacy of existing Pond 5/6 outlet culvert installation.
• Presence of slump on southeast side of Pond 5/6.
• Compliance with applicable SCS requirements (Mapping,
pond design information, slope limitations,
embankment/spillway height requirements).
These concerns, along with appropriate design documentation are
addressed in Appendix D, Sedimentation Pond Retention/Reclamation,
and Appendix A, Drainage Design Information, respectively.
It is important to recognize that the intent of pond retention is to
. enhance the value of reclaimed areas for the proposed postmining land
uses. The ponds are not intended as primary water sources for
grazing/wildlife use in these areas. Rather, they will supplement
Grassy Creek, as the primary water source. This will allow expansion
of grazing activities over a greater area and potentially extend the
effective period of grazing use, which is now limited by water
availability. Expansion of the grazing utilization area will reduce grazing
pressure on the lowland areas adjacent to Grassy Creek and increase
water availability for both livestock and wildlife.
5) /f Pond 2 is to remain, then pond design specifications must be submitted.
Such specifications must verify canpliance with Rule 4.05.6, including
proper embankment and spillway designs.

-12-
