lJ
1

1

1
1
!_J
MINIAG PLAB E%HIBIT D (Continued)
Management with Dotsero Block, Inc. holding 10 mining claims in
Sections 33 and 34, T. 4 S., R. 86 W., 6th P. M. The current soil
conditions are outlined in the Soils and Vegetation (Exhibit I/J)
part of this report.
Mining on this property began in 1941 and has been continuous
since that time. Pre-law workings are shown on Map Exhibit C.
Those areas outside the affected and permitted lands are pre-law
disturbances and will not be the operators responsibility to
reclaim. Any pre-law areas within the affected lands will be
reclaimed prior to final reclamation if they are.redistucbed.
There are no permanent man-made structures located within the
affected lands.
There are several roads across and in the affected lands.
These roads are prelaw and are used by the B.L. M. for purposes
other than mining (See Map Exhibit C).
Geological Setting
The volcanic cinder material being mined is from a layer of
cinder associated with a volcanic vent located on a geologic feature
known as the Dotsero Crater. USGS Bulletin 1142-J indicates the
cinder material is associated with a possible volcano located on
Willow Peak 8 miles west of the site. The text indicates the
Dotsero Crater was really a vent for a this volcano and the material
vented from this cone was spread over a large area surrounding the
cone. Lava flowed from this vent down a narrow valley, south, towards
the Eagle River.
Under lying the site is the Maroon Formation, a predominantly
red colored even bedded, shale, siltstone, sandstone and conglomerate.
The Maroon formation is of no value to Dotsero Block, Inc. and
will become the floor of the mine once complete.
Overburden varies from 0 feet to over 40 feet plus (see
Figure 1). The overburden is a cinder material that has no cohesive
properties and is un-suitable for the manufacture of block. This
material is sold to the County and State Highway departments for
7
