lidded 7/1S/33
2.04.7 NydroloQy Description - Continued
• (2) Surface Water Information:
total dissolved solids (mg/1 ). total suspended solids
(mg/1), acidity, pH, total and dissolved iron (mg/1),
and manganese (mg/1 ).
Runoff from a small section of the permit area will flow
off the property. As shown in figure 1, water will flow
from the top of the topsoil stockpile south and west
onto undisturbed areas. This discharge should not
adversely affect any areas outside the permit area for
several reasons. First the discharge area is small,
less than .OS acres, and therefore tl~e amount of runoff
will be minimal. Secondly. the topsoil stockpile will
be seeded with the seed mix described on page D-2(a) of
the permit. Once a vegetative cover is established, the
• hazard of soil erosion and the resultant sedimentation
from the discharge area will be negligable. Finally,
there will not be any coal or coal waste placed within
the discharge area, eliminating the potential for toxic
or acid drainage. Due to the above reasons, it will not
be necessary to construct a sedimentation pond to
control the runoff from the Northgate site. All flow
from surrounding lands will flow away from tfie property
as a result of the natural contours.
• 6(b)
