Effective rooting depth .is 60 inches or ttore. <br />Runoff is medium, and the hazard of water erosion is high to very high. <br />The Kim soil .is deep and well drained. It fornied in alluviun derived <br />dominantly from sedimentary rock. 'Typically, the upper 38 inches of the <br />soil .is loam. The lower part to a depth of 60 inches or more is clay loam. <br />The soil is calcareous and moderately alkaline throughout. <br />Permeability of the Kim soil is moderate, Available water capacity is <br />high. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more, Runoff .is medium, and <br />the Lazard of water erosion is high. <br />This unit is used mainly as rangeland. A few areas are used as a <br />source of gravel. <br />The potential plant corgiunity on the !]idway soil is mainly <br />I needleandthread and weste m wheatgrass. Other less numerous plants are <br />sideoats grams, little bluestem, and blue grams. The average annual <br />production of air-d r; ~aegetation is about 400 pounds per acre. If the <br />condition of the range deteriorates, blue grams and cheatgrass increase. <br />Range seeding is suitable if the range is in poor condition. <br />The potential plant ccRUnunity on the Ildefonso roil is mainly sideoats <br />grams and blue grams. Other less numerous plants are Indian ricegrass, <br />needleandthread, silver bluestem, and little bluestem. 4he average annual <br />production of air-dry vegetation is about 800 pounds per acre. If the <br />conditirn of the range deteriorates, blue grams, red threeawn, and gal lets <br />increase. Range seeding is suitable if the range is in poor condition. <br />The plant ccmnunity on the Kim soil is similar to that rn tlidway and <br />Ildefonso soils and is usually not in large enough areas to describe a <br />separate range site. <br />
