TOPSOIL REPLACEMENT -Topsoil replacement will occur using mobile equipment once all re-grading
of the area disturbed by mining is complete. Topsoil will be replaced to a thickness of at least 8 inches,
which is appropriate to establish vegetation communities consistent with the post mine land use.
RE-VEGETATION -The intent of the re-vegetation is the establishment of plant communities consistent
with the post-mine land use. After topsoil replacement, seed bed preparation and stabilization will be
conducted and may include one of the following: ripping, disking, harrowing and/or furrowing. Because of
the phased fashion in which the site is mined and reclaimed, it will allow for continuous analysis of re-
vegetation success and determining the best type of preparation that should be used.
Seeding recommendations, contained within the initial application, follow:

Shee Fescue 1.5 #PLS/Ac.
Crested Wheat rass 1.5 #PLS/Ac.
Thicks ice Wheat rass 2.0 #PLS/AC.
Slender Wheat rass 2.0 #PLS/AC.
Pubescent Wheat rass 1.0 #PLS/Ac.
Orchard rass, Paiute 1.5 #PLS/Ac.
Winter Wheat 1.0 #PLS/Ac.
TOTAL 15.0 #PLS/Ac.
Seeding will nonnally be done in the fall andlor spring when temperatures and adequate soil moisture are
present. Seeding will be accomplished by either broadcasting, or by using a seed drill. If broadcasting is
used, seed rates will be doubled. Due to the nature of the backfill material and topsoil found in the area,
hay, straw or fiber mulch is considered to be necessary. Mulching will be accomplished with a clean
certified weed free straw at a rate of 2000 pounds per acre either crimped or "tacified" at 150 pounds per
acre. "Biosol" fertilizer will be applied at a rate of at least 1000 pounds per acre.
• •
Material Rate/Ac.
"Biosol° Fertilizer 1000 lbs.
Fiber Mulch 200 lbs.
Tackifier 2001bs.
Straw Mulch a rox. 100 bales
WEED CONTROL - If necessary, weed control measures will be employed for control of any noxious
weed species. Control measures will also be used if the growth of weed species on the reclaimed area
threatens further spread of the weeds to nearby areas. In the event that weed control is required,
herbicides will be of those that are approved by the Soil Conservation Service and applied by a licensed
herbicide applier. A Weed Control Plan will be utilized as follows:
^ Asemi-annual inspection of all disturbed areas by trained weed control personnel.
^ Treat any identified infested areas with herbicide recommended by the local weed control
authorities.
^ Inspect the infested area after 2 weeks and re-apply herbicide as required.
^ Inspect the site at 4-week intervals after the second inspection and re-treat as required.
^ Any weed control refuse left from previous year's growth will be burned on site.
