Mined Land Reclamation Re: [lest Rifle Pit File jp81-6 page 2
The pond shoreline will be irregular and peninsulas will
be incorporated if enough spoil material remains to build
them. However, economics of gravel pit operations will
doubtless not provide for leaving recoverable reserves in
place for islands.
We have called for an area of 5:1 slope at the ponds edge
in order to provide mudflats (better access for wildfowl)
in our reclamation plan. This is proposed to the Southwest
corner of the pond in order to lessen the impact of resi-
dential activities upon wildfowl. No fill is to be placed
in marsh areas. Some fill may be placed in portions of old
meander channels during construction of settling, ponds. This
material will either be removed or redistributed in what-
ever manner will best provide suitable reclamation. It is
our intent to solicit input from the Division of [dildlife
as reclamation along, the riverbank proceeds.
Cattails will be considered for reclamation planting in any
areas they would appear to grow. A portion of the existing,
marshy area will be left undisturbed (it is within the tran-
sition zone to the West) however, without beaver dams it is
doubtful if this area will remain boggy or marshy.
Revegetation plans are in accordance with Soil Conservation
Service recommendations. Division of L7ildlife inputs will be
considered as reclamation revegetation proceeds.
In addition, I submit other data in order to complete this 112 appli-
cation. Please find enclosed the following:
Proof of Publication from the Glenwood Post.
Copy's of certification of notification to surrounding
property owners regarding public notice for sand and gravel
pit.
Copy of title insurance policy to previous owners and copy
of specific performance contract between Whites and previous
owners.
4. Letter from Garfield County Planning Dept regarding condi-
tional approval for a gravel pit operation.
I hope the Mined Land Reclamation Board will favorably review this
application and grant approval to this operation conditional upon
our providing special use permit approval of Garfield County.
V ry Tr ors
H and
21 March 1981
