Walther <br />Executive Director <br />3609 County Road 13 <br />Loveland, CO 80538 Ronald w. cottony <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />RE: 2°s Adequacy Review Comments -Stroh Pit, Regular 112 Application <br />Class: Permit, File No. M-2002-078 <br />Deaz Mr. Coulson: <br />Listed below aze remaining adequacy review comments on the above-captioned Regulaz 112 Application <br />for 119 acres that must be resolved to the satisfaction of the Division on or before August 12, 2003. <br />6.4.5 EXHIBIT E -Reclamation Plan <br />7. The applicant has indicated that of the 966,469 cubic yards of overburden produced from the southern <br />cells, 240,091 cubic yazds will be backfilled to reduce slopes from 0.5:1 to 3:1 and 726,377 cubic yazds <br />will be removed from the site. The applicant has also indicated that the average volume of overburden to <br />be stockpiled for each cell in the south zone is approximately 322,156 cubic yazds and that no more than <br />approximately 340,000 cubic yazds of stockpile material will occur at any given time. Please clarify the <br />maximum volume of overburden to be stockpiled on site and eventually bacldlled into the pit. This <br />volume and the cost for backfilling into the pit will need to be included in a revised edition of Exhibit L, <br />Reclamation Cost. The volume expressed will also become an enforceable component of the mining and <br />reclamation plan. Please respond. <br />8. The applicant mentions that reclamation will consist of creating two (2) lined water storage ponds. <br />Please respond with the elevation of the expected water line for each pond. <br />6.4.7 EXHIBIT G -Water Information <br />11. The applicant has indicated that a temporary substitute supply plan and associated well permit will be <br />in place prior to mining below the water table in order to demonstrate compliance with Section 3.1.6. <br />Please commit to the following: Prior to exposure of groundwater at the Stroh Pit, Coulson Excavating <br />Company, Inc. (operator) will provide the Division written correspondence from the Office of the State <br />Engineer that verifies all required water permits have been issued, and a signed affidavit from Coulson <br />Excavating Company, Inc. stating that no groundwater has been exposed at the site prior to issuance of <br />necessary water permits from the Office of the State Engineer. <br />Office of Office of Colorado <br />Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey <br />
