The fu•st step will be to establish a finished ground elevation using the overburden
material. Any excess overburden not used on-site will be sold. The side slopes along the
southern boundary will be regraded at a variable slope of between 2:,1 and 3:1 side slopes.
No greater than 50% of the reclaimed sides will be at 2:1, and not greater than 50% will
be at 3:1. There will be transition areas between these grades to help give the slope an
irregular appeazance. One main access road will remain in Phase 1 to access the pit floor.
The floor of the pit will range from a grade of 0.5% up to 7%, generally following the
slope of the ground prior to mining. Since the mining will not disturb the steep slope
along the northern boundary, a channel will need to be cut into the northern bank witl'r A
each phase to allow stormwater flows to discharge from the floor of the pit into the lower
terrace. Since Eagle County will not allow more than 30 acres disturbed at one time
(excluding the permanent facilities), reclamation will commence prior to and
simultaneously with the mining in the following stage. Once the finished ground
elevation is established, topsoil will be spread over all of the phase to a depth between 6"
to 12". The above seed mixes will be used to revegetate the topsoiled areas.
