Due to the complex nature of the construction program for the
Colony project, the design and location of these pollution con-
trol facilities will be finali2ed by the "Engineering Contractor"
It is anticipated that all sedimentation ponds will be designed
to function for the minimum of a 10 year, 24 hour precipitation
event. Bypass drainage systems will be constructed to safely
control and pass runoff flows from larger events.
As a general guide, it is currently anticipated that temporary
sedimentation ponds would be constructed down drainage from
the process plant construction area, the Davis Dam area, the
Middle Fork Dam area, the mine bench construction area, and
a series of ponds prior to the intersection of Middle Fork
Parachute Creek and the Dow West south property line.
All fuel and lubricant storage will be designed to prevent
such materials from entering any water courses in the event
. of spills. All construction labor sanitary facilities will
be temporary self-contained units with no discharges to water
courses in the permit area. Where construction offices are
to be set-up, septic tanks with leach fields will be employed.
Such facilities will be permitted with the proper state and
county agencies prior to construction.
HYDROLOGIC PROTECTION DURING OPERATION
Runoff and oily water
The waters and chemicals collected from leaks, drain-outs,
flushes, washdowns, and storm runoff in the process area will
flow through the oily water storm sewer system to an oil-water
separator capable of handling up to 1,000 gpm. A surge and
guard pond will be provided to handle large quantities of water
during a period of high storm runoff. These ponds will be
•
G-35
