Commercial Sand and Gravel Deposit
Without any doubt, the proposed mining area contains com-
mercial quality and quantity of sand and gravel.
It has been estimated that the total area (109 acres)
contains 2 , 000 , 000 cubic yards of excavatable sand and gravel .
In addition, the subject area has been delineated as mineral
deposit-conservation area by the State of Colorado Geological
Survey' s Special Publication 5-A, "Sand, Gravel and Quarry
Aggregate Resources, Colorado Front aFiAe noes . "
Impact and Reclamation
Obviously the proposed extraction operation will irreversibly
alter the existing land form. Some temporary surface instability
will occur in a form of sloughing or ravelling of slopes . No
geological hazards do presently exist nor will be created because
of the mining activity .
Sand and gravel is one of the more important and essential
commodities in our society. Most of our construction, be it build-
ings or roads , and numerous other commercial industrial enterprises
and activities , require sand and gravel . It is therefore felt
that any possible minor and temporary adverse impacts will be
negated and exceeded by the beneficial results to society by
implementing this proposed mining and reclamation activity,
as submitted.
