Temporary Diversions
i
Discharge from temporary diversions will be controlled by use or detention
i basins and riprap lined channels to reduce energy of the flow. Location and
sizes of detention basins are shown on Drawing D-4-7 and D-4-8.
Permanent Diversions
Permanent diversion ditches will be protected by vegetation and riprap to control
erosion as the discharge points. These ditches are also designed to reduce
:.r
water velocity for erosion control.
Underground Workings
Surface entries and other accesses to the underground workings are located
so that no gravity discharge of water from the mines occurs.
Table 4.6.1-1 lists monthly mean flow and their mean over a thirteen year period.
' The values are from U.S.G.S. station on North Thompson Creek.
Table 4.6.1-1 indicates that a 0.3 cfs reduction in flow at the cessation of
mining will have minimal impact on aquatic life. During periods of lower flows.
aquatic life Kill be concentrated in pools. Periods of low flow are short
in duration and do not significantly impact aquatic life.
4-115 (Revised 1/14/87)
