transfer point to the truck dump. Since the June 12, 1984, letter contained
costs for the revisions to the truck dump, Lively provided us now with a
• total adjustment of $635,000.
CWI also requested that Lively check if the steel cable conveyor belt
requirements for the short conveyor were necessary.
June 22, 1984 Telephone Conversation - In this telephone conversation
between CWI and Lively, Lively stated that Item N3 of the June 12, 1984,
letter contained an error in the earthwork costs under the culvert. Also,
steel cable belting would not be required for the short conveyor, therefore
the adjustment to the original cost estimate was done.
November 6, 1984 Response Letter - In this letter, Lively responded to CWI's
request for unit cost breakdowns of the different areas related to the June
• 12, 1984, cost estimates. Lively separated costs for earthwork, steel cable
belting, and the truck dump modifications. With this information, CWI dif-
ferentiated between actual earthwork and mechanical costs in the overall
proposals.
November 6, 1984 Calculations - Subsequent to Lively submitting breakdowns
on cost estimates, CWI revised the earthwork costs to reflect local pricing.
The adjustments were made to the various items of construction and the total
revised. A summary of total costs is also completed.
Summary - Both a high profile and a low profile conveyor system were
studied. Based on public input and cost comparison, CWI selected the low
• conveyor system. The estimate cannot be more realistic unless further
detailed design work is completed. The final adjusted cost estimates are
outlined on the following table. ~ ~-~
