COMPARISON OF RECLAIMED AREAS WITH RECLAMATION STANDARDS.
\J
Because the site was previously mined, only cover and
species diversity standards apply. As outlined in Appendix F
of the approved permit application, 23.0 % total cover
(contributed by plant species other than annuals and
biennials) is the success standard that applies to Red Canyon.
The species diversity standard requires that four species from
two or more life forms must each contribute at least 1 %
relative cover. Because cover was only collected by life
form, reclamation success with respect to the species
diversity standard was not evaluated.
Total vegetative cover was sampled at 32.5 %. Below is a
summary of the contributions (relative percentages) of each
• life form.
LIFE FORM CATEGORY RELATIVE PERCENTAGE
Perennial grasses 12.8
Annual grasses 0.5
Perennial forbs 0.5
Annual forbs 40.5
Shrubs 41.0
Noxious weeds 4.6
Perennial, non-noxious veg. 54.4
\J
3
