To accomplish this, the rill and gully plan, regrading, backfilling and covering
spoil filled areas with non-toxic material, provides for gentle slopes and the re-
establishment of natural drainages.
To insure that rill and gully formation does not become a serious problem, EFMC will
•
conduct monthly inspections of the disturbed area during the summer months. If,
despite EFMC's best efforts, inspection indicates that natural processes are creating
significant rills and gullies, EFMC will implement appropriate remedial/protective
measures. Mitigation efforts will be done with the objective of preventing further damage
by either repairing damaged areas or establishing conditions which will facilitate repair
through on-going natural processes.
Should rills and gullies begin to form, repair will be undertaken to prevent further
erosion. Repair of individual gullies may include placement of hay bales, riprap or silt
fence, or combinations of these methods. Where areal erosion problems have resulted
in numerous distributed rills and gullies, mitigation measures may include upslope
diversion of drainage, supplemental seeding, mulching, selective placement of sediment
fences, contour furrows, or combinations of these methods.
Where contour furrows are implemented, they will be constructed as closed contour
furrows. The furrows will be established at flat or minimal grade. Furrows will be less
than 1-foot deep, closed features not exceeding 25 feet length and spaced 14 feet
vertically.
• ~R_i ~
684
Revised 10/99
