I ~ Permeability of this Battlement soil is moderate. Available water holding capacity is high. <br />Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. Runoff is very slow, and the hazazd of water <br />erosion is slight. The hazard of soil blowing is moderate. The hazard of flooding is rare. <br />This unit is used for homesite development, irrigated hay, livestock grazing, and wildlife habitat. <br />25 -Campspass fine sandy loam, 3-12% slopes <br />This very deep, well drained soil is on plateaus. It formed in residuum derived from sandstone <br />and shale. Elevation is 6,800 to 7,600 feet. The average annual precipitation is 16 to 18 inches, <br />the average annual air temperature is 40 to 43 degrees F., and the average frost-free period is 65 <br />to 85 days. <br />Typically the surface layer is grayish brown fine sandy loam 2 inches thick. The subsurface layer <br />is light grayish brown loam 6 inches thick. The upper 12 inches of the subsoil is brown clay <br />loam. The next 5 inches is light yellowish brown calcareous clay loam. The lower part to a depth <br />of 60 inches or more is light gray calcareous loam. <br />Included in this unit are small areas of sandstone rock outcrop and Morapos soils. <br />Permeability of this Campspass soil is slow. Available water holding capacity is high. Effective <br />rooting depth is 60 inches or more. Runoff is medium, and the hazard of water erosion is <br />moderate. The hazard of soil blowing is slight. <br />This unit is used for livestock grazing and wildlife habitat. <br />26 -Campspass fine sandy loam, 12-25% slopes <br />This very deep, well drained soil is on mountainsides. It formed in residuum derived from <br />sandstone and shale. Elevation is 6,800 to 7,600 feet.
