DESIGN ANALYSIS
General. Sediment Pond 006 was redesigned to meet or exceed the design and performance
requirements of Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division while utilizing as much of the
existing topography as possible. Sediment Pond 006 was designed to adhere to the
following specifications:
1. Provide storage and treatment for the runoff from the 10-year, 24-hour storm event
without experiencing any discharge through the emergency spillway;
2. Provide an emergency spillway capable of passing runoff from the 100-year, 24-hour
storm event;
3. Provide adequate storage for sediment generated as determined from the Revised
Universal Soil Loss Equation as shown on Page
t
Hydrology. The hydrology of the watershed was analyzed utilizing the SEDCAD computer
program. SEDCAD is an enhanced PC version of the SEDIMOT !I computer program. Tab 13,
Attachment 73-1, Addendum 7 contains a listing and description of the SEDCAD input
variables. In performing this analysis, the characteristics of the minesite and
reclamation procedures along with on-site sediment control procedures were considered. A
complete listing of the SEDCAD inputs and outputs for the 10-year, 25 year and the •
100-year design storms ere provided in Attachment 13-4, Addendum 1.
TABLE 13-4-1
DESIGN HYDROLOGY AND SEDIMENTOIOGY SUMMARY
POND 006
Description 10Y r.-24Hr. 25Yr.-24Hr. 100Yr.-24Hr.

Precipitation Depth 1.6 in. 2.1 in. 2.4 in.
Inflow Runoff Volume 17.07 ac-ft 23.98 ac-ft 33.36 ac-ft
Pond Volume et Peek Siege 16.40 ec-ft 21.3 ac-ft 22.4 ac-ft
Peak Stage 7070.1 7072.6 7073.1
Peak Inflow Rate 45.98 cfs 128.1D cfs 187.50 cis
Peak Oischarge Rate 18.72 cfs 98.10 cfs 153-42 cfs
2 •
