Czan2 to
Acting Conservation Manage t, USGS, vas received bV [his officz or, June
19, 1979.
The reclamation portion of the plans, states that "no reclamation will
be necessary in connection with the rock tunnels and wcrk will all be
within the mine." This is a true stater.ent. There would be no surface
disturbance resulting from she rock tunnel development to intersect the
dower coal beds, principally named the gild avid "D" seams. The rock
tunnel is proposed to be developed on a 15% grade. They have proposed
to dispose of the waste by hauling part of it to the Delta County
Sanitary Land Fill and the remaining portion [o be used for balast
material along the new track haulage to be laid. There will be no
subsidence resulting from the rock tunnel development.
Transportation facilities: It is stated that there will be no
appreciable affect on transportation facilities. This is true, except
that there will be an additional flow of truck traffic on the main
highway for hauling of the rock material.
The three entry development of rock tunnels to intersect the IJild and
"D" seams is a very good means of entry into the lower coal beds. This
proposed plan will utilize the dip for access to these lover coal beds.
The coal dips approximately 6° toward the north.
The rock tunnels are at suitable locations within the mine for either
track or belt haulage. The mine will be set up for belt haulage, but
in the event they want to install track, there will be plenty of room
for tail track and other like facilities.
