Stevens
Reclamation Specialist
htined Land Reclamation Division
Department of Natural Resources
423 Centennial building
1313 Sherman :street
Denver, Colorado 802oj-2273
Dear Nir. Stevens
This letter is Lo acknowledge your correspondence of January
1$, 1987 in which you brought up the subject of how the
aquifer in drill hole 8 was sealed off as reported in the
"Drill Hole Abandonment Report and Final Reclamation Report"
for Notice of Intent No. X-87-202-00.
It is true a cement plug was only placed to a height 10 feet
above the aqguifer rather than the 20 feet as required by
Rule 4.0.3(2). The space between the aquifer plug, starting
at 6$ feet, and the 10 foot surface plug was left open.
Coal is present at a very shallow depth in drill hole 8, and
will De mined in a mining plan subsequent to the one now
under consideration. It will be easy enough to remove the
surface plug with a dozer and pour additional cement in the
hole prior to the mining operation. This will be my plan to
correct the mistake.
If you have any questions about this plan please be in touch.
Sincerely.
L ~~
William T.
