Mr. Gregg Squire
Page Two
August 20, 1986
To further facilitate the review process, Empire Energy would like to
briefly discuss the major revisions which are included in the Permit
Revision Document. These are:
• Life-of-Mine Plan
• No. 9 Portal Waste Disposal Site
• Minor Permit Boundary Changes
• Williams Fork Strip Pit - Reclamation Plan
• Town Loadout - Reclamation Plan
• Deleted Information
Life-of-Mine Plan
The Life-of-Mine Plan (Map 22) has been revised to graphically display
the current mining philosophy of Empire Energy. This includes the
layout of the No. 5 Mine ("F" Coal Seam), the No. 6 Mine layout ("E"
Coal Seam). and the abandonment of the No. 9 Mine ("P" Coal Seam).
Empire Energy has taken great care in the development of the mine plan
maps. The No. 5 Mine Plan Map (Map 23) has been developed using state
of the art drafting techniques employing screening and an elaborate
overlay system. The overlay system is felt to be crucial in aiding
the division in reviewing the possible impacts of longwall mining.
The No. 5 Mine Plan Map (Map 23) will allow the review of 1) Longwall
mining only, 2) Longwall over longwall mining, 3) Old room and pillar
(partial extraction) over longwall mining and 4} Old room and pillar
(for extraction) over longwall mining.
In addition, Empire Energy has developed a subsidence (Map 30) which
graphically shows that no structures or renewable reso4rces will be
adversely impacted during the five (5) year permit term requested.
Empire Energy has carefully developed its five (5) year mining
sequence to stay well away from any water bodies, residences, and
major roads.
mpireEnergy Corporation
P.O.
