EXHIBIT 8 <br />SITE DESCRIPTION <br />This site is situated on an alluvial plain at an elevation of <br />8300 feet above mean sea level approximately 1/4 mile south of <br />the Conejos River. <br />The east boundary of the mine area coincides with a bench <br />approximately 10 to 12 feet in height; the surface is nearly flat <br />to the western boundary of the mine area. <br />The soil at this site is classified by the U.S.D.A. Soil <br />Conservation Service as Derrick very cobby sandy loam. The <br />average annual precipitation is about 15 inches, the average <br />annual air temperature is about 40 degrees Fahrenheit and the <br />average annual frost-free period lasts about 90 days. <br />This site provides a habitat best suited to range land wildlife. <br />RECEIVED <br />FEB ~ 4 2002 <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />
