Over fifty (50) tests were
oocxlucted on pressurized gas pipelines with diameters of 3 to 30 inches, using
scaled distances of apprcncimately 1.5 to 39 foot/pounds~2. Scaled distance is
defined as
~ ~ D~,/2
whew 'D" is the distance fr® a bleat to the nearest structure and "W 2• is the
square root of the maximum amwnt of explosives detonated per delay period.
1 FBpersa, Pxivaard D., Nkstine, Peter S., Weasel, Alex B., Pipeline Respaise to
Buried Pkplosive Detonations, Vblume I, for the Pipeline Research Ornmittee,
• Amer can (bs Aeaoc an, August, 1981. 249 pp.
-1-
