RESPONSES FOR PERHIT STIPULATIONS ON PERMA RESOURCE
-~ CORPORATION'S CHIA`fEY ROCK GOAL MINE
STIPULATIONS 9 and 10; The scope-of-work for sampling vegetative covez and
herbaceous productivity on the pinyon-juniper type and establishing a
pinyon-juniper reference area is provided below. Woody plant density vas
nat required in the stipulation and will noc be sampled.
Vegetation cover and herbaceous productivity will be sampled on the
pinyon-juniper type on Perms Resources Corporation's Chimney Rock Coal
Hine. Vegetative cover and herbaceous productivity will also be sampled o0
a representative reference area to be established for the pinyon-juniper
type. The reference area will be representative of the species eom-
position, vegetative cover, herbaceous production, soils, slope, and aspect
gene rally .occurring within the pinyon-juniper type. The main criterion for
selection of the reference area will be equivalency of vegetative cover,
which will be demonstrated with the use of a t-test as outlined by Larson
(1980). After equivalency of cover is demonstrated, productivity data far
-: the reference area will be gathered and compared to productivity data from
the pinyon-juniper community. All methods and data reporting will meet the
requirements of [he Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division.
Sample locations foz cover and production will be randomly selected on
reference and affected areas by use of a numbered grid system (interval a
50 meters on the ground) overlain on the pinyon-juniper type shown on the
vegetation map of the mine permit area to be supplied by Perms Resources
Corporation. A random numbers table will be used to identify coordinates
for the sample locations. Sample locations will be numbered and shown on
the map. Sample locations in the field will be determined by pacing from
recognizable land marks.

( •
38-32
