predictions for panels 5 Righ[ and 6 Right do not contemplate undermining or subsiding of the county road overpass.
• A survey of the area overlying the planned mining has identified the following structures, resource features, and
facilities that could be affected by potential subsidence.
Land Use
Cropland, pastureland, and rangeland aze the historical land uses of the proposed EMD permit and adjacent areas,
as shown on Map 3, Premining Land Use. The EMD dewatering borehole and the ventilation shaft are located in
rangeland.
Existime Residences/Structures
There are three houses and associated outbuildings located in section 22 within the area to be subsided in the
Eastern Mining District. Of these three houses, two aze occupied and can be termed as residences, although one of
the residences is only occupied periodically during the year. Twentymile Coal Company owns one of the houses
and its associated outbuildings. The other two houses and associated outbuildings are owned by the Ashley's.
Twentymile Coal Company has established an agreement with the Ashley's which will result in. vacating the
residences prior to longwall mining. The Ashley cabin, overlies the 6 Right gateroad and the cabin was
undermined in 1998. Observations made on the cabin did not reveal any significant impacts. The occupied
residence is planned to be subsided in April or May of 1999 and the were relocated prior to subsiding the dwelling.
The barn located in section 22 is utilized for agricultural activities and it is anticipated that it will be subsided
during 1999. As above, subsidence timing may vary based on annual production rates. Twentymile will determine
if the barn can be used once it has been undermined and subsided.
• There are two old deserted ranch structures located in the NE/4 SE/4 of Section 28, TSN, R86W. These two
buildings are located off an existing ranch road leading into the property. Additionally, there are three deserted
ranch buildings located in NW/4SW/4 of Sections 27, TSN, R86W. The exact age of all these buildings is
unknown, but none of them have been used recently.
Aquifers
The Twentymile Sandstone outcrops in the Eastern Mining District along the section of Foidel Creek drainage. The
Twentymile Sandstone is a large regional aquifer located throughout northwest Colorado. There are no known
water supply wells completed in the Twentymile in the vicinity of the mine.
The Trout Creek Sandstone outcrops in the Eastern Mining District along a section of Middle Creek. The Trout
Creek Sandstone is a large regional aquifer located throughout northwest Colorado. Twentymile Coal Company is
the only party with a water supply well completed into the Trout Creek Sandstone in the vicinity of the Eastern
Mining District.
Roads
There are several ranch roads that traverse the longwall panels, and these roads will be subsided. Local or surface
owners use these roads and access to these roads is limited to those specific owners. No significant impact
to the roads should result from TCC's mining activities. No control plan is contemplated for these roads.
•
APPH~®1lED APR 2 4 20D~
Permi[ Renewal No. 3 2.05-178 I I/1/99
