DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER
SUBJECT: CORN CONSTRUCTION - 23 ROAD PTT, MESA COUNTY, APPLICATION
FOR MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for a sand and
gravel operation near Grand Junction. The applicant has leased sufficient
water for dust control. Two non-tributary wells are located near the proposed
pit, but will not be affected by the dewatering. The six-acre reclamation
pond will evaporate approximately 18 acre-feet of water annually. Although
this will not significantly affect water users at the present time, any consump-
tive use over which there is no administrative control affects to some degree
the Colorado River Compact. In the future, the cumulative effect of such
losses may significantly affect Western Slope water users.
D.
Hal D. Simpson
H DS/SSH ;mvf
C.J.
