=z-
C~i,loration Permit Application (Removal of 250 tons or less of Coal)
5) Legal Right to Enter
See attached letter from Mr. Bryan J. Archer, Vice President,
t4enefee Land Co., Inc.
6) tfeasures to tinimize Adverse Environmental Impacts
Access -Proposed drill holes have been located near existing roads
and trails to minimize surface disturbance. If, for any reason,
roads are damaged by use, or require modification prior to use, mine
equipment will be used to restore the roads to as near the original
condition as is possible. All drill sites have been located in
open areas to further minimize and control vegetation disturbance.
Site Preparation - All sites have been chosen to minimize site grading
and leveling. The drill rig will use self-contained leveling jacks to
further minimize drill site preparation.
LJ
Topsoil Handling - Topsoil will be stripped from the area to be affected
by drilling activities and will be stockpiled near the drill site.
Topsoil will be redistributed over the disturbed area following cleanup of
the drill site.
Containment of Grilling Fluids - Drilling fluids will be contained
by using both a portable mud put and by constructing a berm to retain
excess fluids.
Drill Hole Abandonment and Site Restoration - As each drill hole is
completed it will be sealed to within 10 feet of the surface with
abandonment drill mud. A cement plug will be placed from that point
to about three (3) feet of the surface. Soil will be used to fill
the remaining three feet.
The area will then be graded and the topsoil spread over the disturbed
area. Affected areas will be reseeded during Spring, 1983, with the
approved seed mixture for the Dorchester =1 t•:ine.
7) tlethods of Coal Exploration and Reclamation
Drilling and Logging Equipment - A Midway 1500-MS drill rig (rotary)
will be used to drill the eight (8) exploratory holes. A 3,000 gallon
water truck will haul water from the Dorchester No. 1 Pline facilities/
sources, as required to drill the holes. Alight van-type truck will
house the necessary electric logging equipment required on the project.

All holes will be 5 5/8" diameter holes to allow for a 3" geophysical
tool to probe the finished hole. A71 holes will be electric (eeophysical)
loosed with a wet-hole tool. No cores will be taken at this time.
