INTRODUCTION:
Dorchester Coal Company intends to augment a development drilling program
at the Dorchester No.l Mine property in the Newlin Creek area, T20S, R70W,
Fremont County, Colorado.
PURPOSE:
This drilling program will accumulate needed data in an area immediately
ahead of current mining activities in order to update coal thickness.
identify underground structural features and other geologic data required
for efficient mine production.
METHODS:
Equipment to be used:
A Midway 1500-MS drill rig (rotary) will be used to drill the two (2)
• exploratory holes. A 3,000 gallon water truck will haul water from the
Dorchester No.l Mine facilities/sources, as is required to drill holes.
One light van-type truck will house the necessary electric logging
equipment required on the project, one half-ton pickup for the drill
crew as well as a half-ton pickup to be used by the field geologist
in charge of the drill project.
LOCATION:
Note attached map for exact drill locations. Note that legal descriptions
of the drill holes are itemized on Table I.
DRILL HOLE SIZES:
All hole sizes will be 5 5/8" diameter holes to allow for a 3" geo-
physical tool to probe the finished hole. All holes will be electric
(geophysical) logged with a wet-hole tool to allow a good resistivity
log to be recovered. No holes will be permantly cased if they can be
avoided. No cores will be taken at this time.
DRILL WATER:
• Water haulage will be kept to a minimum. Water will be obtained from
the Dorchester No.l mine yard facilities. All drilling fluids as well
as any artesian flow encountered will be contained in portable mud pits
and 20' x 20' dug mud pits (built with a light back hoe) and will not be
