Y
APPLICA'CION FOR MINING & RECLAMATION PE;HMIT RECEIVED
BY CROWLEY COUNTY
h.XHI(lIT D
MINING PLAN DEC 12 X983
MINED LAND RECLAMATION
C~.-;LO GL.I OF NATURAL RESOURCES
Gravel has been mined in an dry alluvial open pit to an approximate elevation
of 1,270, as shown on Exhibit C in the existing mining, area. During the present
stage of operation, grave:L will. be removed from the urea north of the. existing
floor by dozing down slope on the north wall in west, east and south directions
toward the crusher. It is planned to crush all of the gravel obtained in this
manner on site. The pit floor will be expanded and the crusher relocated to the
north as the wall is mined away. The process will continue until the west and
north slopes have heen mined to the extent shown in Exhibit F. "Pit Run"
gravel will be taken ocas:aionally from the east wall with front end loaders. ~It
is anticipated that this will represent less than 10;6 of all Bravo] mined. There
i.e no overburden and virtually no topsoil to he stringed and spoiled or stockpiled.
The gavel stratum is exposed thruout the site. Surface runoff, resulting from
heavy rains. is kept away from the crusher and adjacent floor by being channeled
t~, the southwest corner to a reacessed area that can be seen in Exhibit C. Here
it .infiltrates into the underling sands and groundwater.
The present stage of operation involves only the west approximate 10 acres.
Au estimated additional 3t>o,000 tons can be taken from this 10 acres, suppling
tFle county for tho next 7•-10 years. Approximately 300,000 tans has been mined
to dada. .Thruout the operation, 3-4 acres would be classified as u major dis-
t~irhance aroa involved with the earthmoving of gravel towards the crusher.
Another 3-Q acres wotil d be. class ified as moderate disturbance consisting primarily
of the adjacent pit floor. Tha remainrisr are minor disturbance areas. 'the west
10 acres will be reclaimed after completion of mining operations there,
