Angie Pit Adequacy Response Letter Page 6
The rate column header has been changed to read Pounds of PLS/Acre. Additional
species have been added to the seed mixture.
20. The fertilization rate appears to be on the light side. It is recommetded that fertilizer be
applied per the recommendations of a soil analysis conducted just prior to the scheduled
seed applications. A rate of 200 lbs./acre is generally used for bond calctdations.
Exhibit E now reflects an application rate for fertilizer of 200 Ibs/acre.
21. No mulch application was specified in the reclamation plats. Att application of 2
tons/acre certified weed free straw or hay mulch is recommended. (Alternatively, a plats
for irrigating the reclamation can be incorporated into the reclamation plan.)
The applicant holds sufficient water rights within the Gurley Ditch to provide flood
irrigation to all areas and phases of the gravel operation to enhance the revegetation
effort.
22. Please be aware that grazing may nat occur on the acreage in reclamation without prior
authorization from the Division, in consultation with the local Soil Conservation District.
The landowner sltou[d be appraised of this restriction to avoid problems in the future.
This statement is acknowledged in Exhibit E.
Exhibit G -Water Information
23. Please indicate the depth to groundwater in this area and ideritifv all btown aquifers.
The sandstone shelf under the gravel deposit is considered an aquifer. Ground water
associated with this aquifer may extend up into the gravel deposit by as much as 10 feet,
making the general level of the ground water about 20 feet below the surface.
24. Please provide an estimate of water requirements, including amtnal volumes for the
development, mining attd reclamation phases of the project.
This estimate is now included in Exhibit G. Approximately 3.47acre feet of water per
year will be used to provide dust suppression to the haul road and "creased" irrigation to
approximately 2 acres per year of reclamation vegetation.
Exhibit J -Vegetation
25. Please provide cover attd height estimates for al[ vegetative life fontts opt site.
