This road aligpme~at is depicted an the attached, map. <br />PRE-D.RILLII~IG ACIlY1T1ES <br />Construction mad drilling activities will be supervised by a project representatitve of <br />Mountain Coal Company, L.L.C. ' <br />Staging areas to be used by the drilling contractor will be used in a manned to minimize <br />daamage to the vegetation Auy smrtace disdtrbanre to tbiese sites will be re-graded and <br />seeded to promote rehabilitation. <br />Access routes will be mai~ainid to accommodate firll. sized 4X4 pickup trucdcs, ATVs, <br />and requited drilling equipment, including but not 1united to the following: truck <br />tnormted or skid mounted drill rig, air compressors andlor booster, rig-up truck, portable <br />weber tanks, boom truck, utility frailer, drill pipe lay-downi rack, and anew trucks. <br />Roads utiliaed in the projcd will be maintained avith water bars and appropriate <br />sedime~ation commis as required during the drilling phase. A D9 bulldozer or iRs <br />equivalent will be used to ptepme the road for travel and assist in mobiliting the drill <br />equipment to ~tbe drill sites. Additional equipment expected w be used in opening, <br />maintaining, and reclamation rosy include arubber-tired backbioe, tubber tired Bader, <br />roller compactor and a nack~ou~ed excavator. <br />Brush removal may occur at the proposed drill sites however, if trees are encountered, <br />MCC will remove the trees. A drill site pad of approximately 200 ft, x Z00 ft will be <br />constructed to accommodate the drill equipment and drill s sump or mud pits. <br />Drill pans will be constructed only as large as necessary. <br />Topsoil will be stripped, stackpiied, and identified with' a sign. Stored topsoil will be <br />placed in a separate pile; the pile will be located outside of drainages amd placed in an <br />area where ii will be protected from wind erosion; signs identifying the pile as `°Topsoil" <br />will be placed so as to prevent unintended contamination, compaction of use far other <br />than reclamation purposes; alternate sediment controls (slash, silt fence or straw wattles) <br />will be used; and the pile will be seeded in the first seeding season following its <br />construction using a seed mix that will stabilize erosion. This topsoil will be used in the <br />reclamation phase of the progam. <br />Mud pits to accommodate drill cuttia8s will be catWructed with an approximate size of <br />10' x 20' x 6'. These mud pits will be cut irrm the fill area of the pad if possible. Mud <br />pits will be designed ip comain the tws-off from a 25-year 24-hour event and will be <br />
