If the surface is owned by a person other than the person who intends to explore, give a
description of the basis upon which the person who will explore claims the right to enter such
area for the purpose of conducting exploration and reclamation (attach supporting
documents, if applicable):
A total of nine (9) alluvial groundwater monitor wells will be
installed on a total of six (6) individual sites, as indicated on
the attached Map 1. Attach a description of the land to be affected (Rule 2.02.2(2)(c)). For example: The
condition of the topsoil, the general hydrology, type of vegetation and topography.
The general area included within the NOI boundary is characterized
by topography of high and low relief. Seven drainages are found
within the NOI area. Five 1" and 2ntl order tributaries to the Yampa
River drain northward from the Williams Fork Mountains toward the
Yampa River. The streams have perennial and intermittent sections.
Individual well sites are all flat-lying, located within 75ft of
well-traveled and maintained county roads, are overlain by silty
topsoil, and vegetated with low grasses. Photographs of each of the
well sites are attached (photos are recent, taken March 10`" and 11`",
1998).
5. Describe exploration activities (Rule 2.02.2(2)(8))
a. Attach a narrative description of methods and equipment to be used to conduct coal
exploration activities. Also describe
measures to be taken to protect the environment: topsoil salvage, diversion of
overland flow, settling ponds, etc.
Alluvial monitoring wells will be installed at locations where
county road access is readily available, so additional road
construction will not be required. Photographs of each of the
well sites are attached. A truck-mounted, hollow stem auger
will be used to install 2-inch diameter monitoring wells. The
3
