06032 Banks and Gesso, LLC
Seed Mix
Based on consultation with the local office of the Soil Conservation Service (NRCS), the
following seed mix is proposed:
Table E-1: Permanent Seed Mix

Species
Variety PLS

(Ibs/acre) Percent of

Mix (%)
Big Bluestem Kaw 0.6 10
Yellow Indiangrass Cheyenne 0.5 10
Switchgrass Blackwell 0.5 20
Sideoats Grama Vaughn 0.9 20
Western Wheatgrass Arriba, Barton 1.6 20
Green Needlegrass Lodorm 0.5 10
Blue Grama Hachita 0.2 10
Fourwing Saltbrush Native 0.5 Shrubs
Winterfat Native 0.5 Shrubs
Weed Control
Noxious weeds will be managed in accordance with the Colorado Noxious Weed
Management Act and County regulations. Mowing and/or application of an herbicide (as
recommended by the Elbert County Weed Specialist) may be used to control weeds on
site during mining and the early establishment of reclaimed areas.
Several statutory noxious weed species are designated for management by Elbert
County, although none of these are currently known to exist on or near the permit area.
Should a noxious weed infestation or the presence of other persistent weeds threaten
the site and reclamation efforts, the Applicant will address the problem with mitigation
and management strategies consistent with the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety policy concerning noxious weeds.
The Denver Brick Company January 2007
Kiowa Clay Mine Page 10
