06032 Banks and Gesso, LLC
Exhibit E -Reclamation Plan
Post-mining Land Use
The Applicant is electing to designate rangeland as the post-mining land use for
Reclamation Permitting purposes. This is a logical designation, given the pre-existing
condition of the site as rangeland. The landscape context of the site also indicates the
site will be well-suited to the rangeland use as a stable and economically viable post-
mining use, in accordance with the intent of the Construction Materials Rules and
reclamation statutes.
Grading and Topsoilinp; Concurrent Reclamation
The Applicant proposes concurrent reclamation of the site. In general, scraper haul
cycles following the initial mining stages will include a mix of both commercial clay
recovery and overburden and waste rock movement. Overburden and waste rock will be
routed to previously depleted mining areas, where final contouring may be achieved by
scraper placement or final contouring with a dozer, loader, or other equipment.
The Applicant anticipates recovery of at least 6 inches of topsoil for re-spreading as
plant growth medium. Salvaged topsoil will be redistributed across the site evenly,
including both reclaimed side-slopes, the pit floor, and other disturbed areas subject to
initial salvage and stockpiling of topsoil. For any disturbed area with compacted topsoil,
tilling, harrowing, and/or other scarification methods will be used to provide a suitable
medium for further preparation, as below.
Seedbed Preparation and Seeding
A native grass drill will be used for the seeding. Rates for Pure Live Seed (PLS) pounds
per acre and total PLS for each species are listed on the grass seeding worksheet.
Fertilizer will be used when necessary.
FEE 0 5 2i1Q)
Division of Rey ;. ,; ; on,
Mining and Sefe,y
The Denver Bridc Company January 2007
Kiowa Clay Mine Page 9
