Ms. Ericn Crosby
September 7, 1999
Page 2

approximately 6" to 12". Please note that not all topsoil stockpile locations shown on the
map will be used at the same time. Also, topsoil stockpiles that may be placed at the
front edge of the backfilled azea are not shown as they would be constantly moving
towazd the west and the map would be covered with temporary topsoil stockpile
locations.
Topsoil in Phases II and III is approximately 6" to 9" in depth. All topsoil from these
phases will be stockpiled around the perimeter of the mining limits and at the front edge
of the backfilled area (which will be cartinually moving toward the west). Topsoil
stockpiles which remain in place longer than one yeaz will be seeded with a fast growing
cover crop to protect from wind and water erosion. Topsoil stripped from Phase II and III
will be replaced to the same depth that it was removed, approximately 6" to 9". Please
note that not all topsoil stockpile locations shown on the map will be used at the same
time. Also, topsoil stockpiles that may be placed at the front edge of the backfilled azea
are not shown as they would be constantly moving towazd the west and the map would be
covered with temporary topsoil stockpile locations.
Topsoil and overburden stockpile locations are shown on the map. Please note that not
all locations may be used, or used at the same time. Stockpile locations will move along
with the mining to make reclamation work easier.
Seeding of the pasture grasses and [he grass hay areas will occur between May ]and
November 1, following the final grading of [he site and as long as the ground is not
frozen.
4. Rule 6.4.6 The scale of the map should have been noted as 1 "=300'. This has been
revised on the map.
Rule 6.4.7 A paste pH analysis of the limestone material was conducted. The results
were faxed to the Division offices on August 19, 1999. Another copy is provided here.
The pH of the material, 7.8, indicates this is a neutral substance and should pose no
concerns for groundwater quality.
The Boyd Lake Outlet Ditch is an overflow ditch for excess water in the reservoir, and
stormwa[ers above the Kauffman's property, to return to the river. There are no water
rights associated with the ditch portion that runs through the Kauffman's property and
empties into the Big Thompson River immediately on the south side of the adjacent
Kauffman permit, M-78-327. There are no diversions from this ditch, it is for return
waters only.
