Taxonomic Class: Fine-loamy, mixed Pachic Argiborolls.
Al 0-6" -- Dark gray (lOYR 4/1) loam, black (lOYR 2/1) moist; moderate fine
granular and crumb structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky, slightly
plastic; noncalcareous; neutral (pH 6.8); clear smooth boundary. (4 to
10 inches thick)
B1 6-11" -- Dark gray (lOYR 4/1) heavy loam, black (lOYR 2/1) moist; weak
medium prismatic structure that parts to moderate fine subangular blocks;
slightly hard, very friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; peds are
hard; few glossy patches on faces of peds; noncalcareous; neutral )pH 6.8);
clear smooth boundary. (3 to 8 inches thick)
B21t 11-29" -- Dark brown (lOYR 4/2) light clay loam, very dark brown (lOYR
2/2) moist; moderate medium prismatic structure that parts to moderate fine

B22t 29-38" -- Grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) light clay loam, very dark grayish

sticky, slightly plastic; peds are very hard; thin nearly continuous wax-like
coatings on faces of peds; wax-like coatings and fillings on the inside of

B3 38-44" -- Brown (lOYR 5/3) light clay loam, dark brown (lOYR 4/3) moist;
weak medium subangular blocky structure; hard, friable, slightly sticky,
slightly plastic; peds are very hard; few thin glossy patches on faces of peds
and few discontinuous glossy coatings on the inside of root channels; neutral
(pH 7.2); gradual smooth boundary. (4 to 8 inches thick)
C 44-60" -- Brown (lOYR 5/3) loam, dark brown (lOYR 4/3) moist; few small
faint pale brown (lOYR 6/3) moist mottles; massive; hard, friable, slightly
sticky, slightly plastic; noncalcareous; neutral (pH 7.2).

Ran a in Characteristics: Depth to uniformly calcareous material normally
ranges from 4 to more than 60 inches and is not shallower than the upper
3 inches of the C horizon if the solum is thicker than 40 inches. Thickness
of the mollic epipedon and depth to the base of the argilTic horizon range
from 17 to 50 inches. The control section of some pedons has few faint
mottles with chroma of more than 2 in both matrix and mottling. Rock
fragments range from 0 to 15 percent by volume in a major part of the solum
• and C horizon above 40 inches and these are mainly ; to 10 inches in diameter.
